At Catholic Mutual Group our diverse coverage programs are crafted to provide unparalleled protection for every aspect of your life. We understand that one size does not fit all, and that's why our range of coverage programs is designed to cater to your individual needs and circumstances. Explore the tailored solutions we offer to secure your future and provide you with the peace of mind you deserve.

Our Promise

We take our promise to be there for our members in times of need, and in-between times, very seriously. We are a trusted partner because we have actual, proven solutions in place and ready to go to manage the property and liability exposures of the Church.

Unlike our competitors, almost all of Catholic Mutual’s ERM services, with the exception of a few services such as onsite inspections and Safe Environment Solutions, are part of our risk management program and included in your coverage at no additional charge.

Our Risk Management Leadership Committee also sets us apart. Established in 2008, this dedicated group of diocesan members meets twice yearly to discuss the exposures they are encountering within their dioceses. By constantly monitoring and analyzing the exposures of the Church, we are able to innovate new programs that reflect our members’ evolving needs.

On the night of October 8th, 2017 the Tubbs Fire started in Calistoga, CA and burned through the night doing massive destruction over 18 miles into Santa Rosa. Multiple buildings were destroyed at Cardinal Newman High School and St. Rose Elementary The staff from Catholic Mutual came on site as soon as the area was cleared by emergency officials. They took charge of the situation and in partnership with school administration, both schools were back in session at temporary facilities in January. Catholic Mutual's experience, professionalism and support on mitigating the impact of this loss far exceeded my expectations.

In one tragic moment on May 22, 2011, St. Mary's Parish in Joplin, MO., found itself completely without a church, Catholic school, rectory, offices, parish hall and St. Vincent de Paul House, as a result of an F-5 tornado. The parish and diocese were distressed about how to proceed in the near and distant future. The staff from Catholic Mutual Group guided us through temporary housing and operations. Their reaction both on-site and off-site was immediate and compassionate, and they handled our claim process personally and efficiently. In summary, their professional efforts far exceeded my expectations.

Claims Administration

Claims can be reported by your locations or a central office via phone, email, fax, or online through our website. No matter the method, our priority is making the process simple and accessible so that members can reach us quickly in times of need. Our team is always ready to respond with care, understanding that claims often come during stressful situations.

Our members can be as involved or uninvolved in the claim process as they want to be. For some, being fully engaged brings peace of mind, while others may prefer to let us handle the details so they can focus on their ministries and communities. Either way, our staff ensures that every claim is handled with professionalism, transparency, and compassion.

Catholic Mutual provides a Claim Portal where members can access claim history, current claim reports or status, and retention summaries. This tool allows members to stay informed at their own pace and offers peace of mind by ensuring information is available whenever it’s needed.

Catholic Mutual has a dedicated Specialty Claims team with extensive experience in the challenges of today’s legal environment. We recognize the sensitivity of these matters and approach them with the highest level of confidentiality, respect, and pastoral care, while ensuring members are guided through the legal complexities with clarity and support.

Catholic Mutual can assemble a Disaster Claim Team when catastrophic events affect many locations at once. In these moments of crisis, we respond swiftly to help members recover and restore their ministries, providing not only financial support but also a reassuring presence during uncertain times.

Catholic Mutual, with approval, will allow new members to retain existing vendor, legal, or service relationships upon request. We believe continuity and trust are essential, and we want our members to feel confident that their needs are met in ways that are familiar and comfortable, while still supported by the strength and resources of Catholic Mutual.

We're grateful to have the Catholic Mutual Group Risk Management team backing us every step of the way. They consistently go above and beyond helping us navigate complex liability issues, offering proactive risk assessments, providing educational aid and videos, and simply being available. They are more than a trusted partner in protecting our people, property, and purpose-they are like caring family members to us.

Prior to joining Catholic Mutual in 2006, we seemed to be on the unending treadmill of escalating benefits costs. Each renewal year we would raise deductibles and/or reduce benefits on our fully insured plans in order to keep our renewal increase tolerable. In the Catholic Mutual Group, we have a partner who specializes in meeting the insurance needs of diocesan and other church plans. They facilitated the transfer of our administration and billing after our former administrator resigned the account with short notice. They negotiated the transfer of our prescription coverage and group life plans, resulting in more favorable terms for our plan. As the coalition continues to grow, we enjoyed deeper discounts on our prescription drug plan.

Advantages of Participating in the Employee Benefit Buying Alliance (EBBA)

Lower Commissions/Fees: CMG Agency commissions/fees are typically significantly lower than those of comparable brokers/consultants.

Experienced Management and Staff: All members of our staff either have a professional designation or are pursuing one. In addition, we have four licensed consultants available at any time.

Opportunity to Share Data: As in the case of some of the comparisons of the data that we have compiled in our growing database, we hope to be a catalyst in assisting our clients to share helpful information between dioceses without compromising the privacy of any without prior approval.

Never a One Size Fits All Approach: Although our experience with Catholic entities is second to none, we recognize that each still may have its own requirements and nuances. As such, all benefit plans are unique and clients are welcome to purchase any one or all of the coverage lines that we access through the EBBA (Employee Benefit Buying Alliance).

Significant Savings: Due to the interest that has been generated since its inception in 1999, the Employee Benefit Buying Alliance has saved participating members over a half billion dollars on all coverage lines.
